Frequently Asked Questions

Who do you work with?

I work best with Highly Sensitive People (HSPs), Introverts, Empaths, Perfectionists, and Creatives who want support navigating anxiety, overwhelm, and self-exploration. This process often includes helping you manage the guilt of prioritizing self-care and setting boundaries, reducing work stress/burnout, and exploring self-doubt. In addition to addressing these issues, I also enjoy guiding folks through the deeper work of self-exploration and important life transitions.

If you're seeking short-term, directive, or CBT therapy, I would not be the right fit. You could look through Dr. Aron’s HSP-knowledgeable therapist list or the TherapyDen directory to find a therapist who would be better able to support you.

What does a typical session look like?

My approach to therapy is very empathetic and inclusive with a focus on mindfulness-based practices. I prioritize meeting you where you are while gently helping you uncover blocks to healing.

Sessions will primarily be talk therapy as I listen, reflect, validate, and offer questions for self-inquiry. Depending on your needs, I will also include a mixture of self-reflective practices such as journaling or drawing and experiential practices to support your sensitive nervous system and deep emotions.

Where do sessions take place?

I can meet with folks located anywhere in California via phone or secure video sessions. All I ask is that you’re in a private location at the time of our appointment so you can feel safe to be open and get the most out of your session.

Do I have to live in California?

Yes, unfortunately, my professional license only allows me to work with clients who are physically located in California at the time of our sessions. Dr. Aron’s HSP-knowledgeable therapist list or the TherapyDen directory are great options for finding a therapist near you.

Can I see you in person?

For the foreseeable future, I will be meeting clients solely online. Many folks enjoy being able to have therapy at home, but I understand that this doesn’t feel best for everyone.

How long are therapy sessions? How often will we meet?

Sessions are typically 50 minutes and are scheduled once per week. You will have a specific day and time reserved just for you each week.

When are you available?

I meet with clients Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 11:00am-5:00pm. I do not offer later evening or weekend appointments.

How long will I need to be in therapy?

Since I practice in-depth, relational therapy, I tend to work with clients for an average of 1-2 years, sometimes longer. The amount of time depends on the level of support you’re looking for and how deep you want to go. When starting therapy with me, I do ask that you are able to commit to weekly therapy for at least several months to receive the benefits.

But, what if it’s not a good fit?

Sometimes it sounds good on paper, but then you or I realize once the therapy starts that we’re just not the right fit for therapist and client. That’s okay! My primary goal is for you to find a therapist that will be able to best support you, so I will help you find referrals if we’re not a good match.

Do you take insurance?

I am not an in-network provider with any insurance carrier, but you may be able to use out-of-network benefits or your HSA/FSA card. You can read more on getting reimbursed through your insurance here.

The TherapyDen directory is a great place to search for therapists who take your insurance.

How much do you charge per session?

Currently, my fee is $200 per 50-minute session. You can read more on my fees and payment options here.

Do you offer sliding scale rates?

At this time, my sliding scale spots are full. Open Path Collective is a good resource for finding therapists with sliding scale availability.

Do you work with kids, teens, or couples?

My practice is focused on working with adults only. Working with kids, teens, and couples each requires a certain skill set and training that I don’t have the capacity to pursue.
